Imagine- you’ve just settled down in a theatre to solve an audience-participation murder mystery. The narrator comes out and gives you a few “ins and outs” on what to look for in the play. The show starts and you meet Fat Daddy, a rich but vindictive southern gentleman with an equally conniving and scheming family. So you know who’s going to die, right? But who will the murderer be? Will it be Sweet Mama, Daddy’s pandering wife; Hyacinth, the daughter who’s always cleaning the family firearms; Earl the worm, or his overly amorous wife, Savannah; or Clete, the sullen handyman who, for some reason, is in the will? Then Fat Daddy is discovered, dead as a hammer. Except the corpse isn’t Daddy’s – it’s the narrator’s! The director comes on stage and the police arrive. Now you have to figure out which of the actors murdered the narrator. And not only are you questioning the cast, but they are questioning you! Yes, you are a suspect as well! This frantic mystery-comedy will have audiences guessing until the last clue is dropped and the last ham overacts.

This summer, we’re proud to host a variety of fun-filled camps for all ages and budgets!  All camps and performances are held at the Hernando Performing Arts Center, 805 Dilworth Lane, Hernando, MS 38632 (on the Hernando High School campus).

Kudzu Playhouse is proud to announce four matinee performances of George Orwell’s “1984”!

Winston Smith, living under the totalitarian rule of the Party, has the idea of writing a diary. It is a crime punishable by death and there is no way of knowing if he is being watched. He imagines two futures—in one, a future readership in a free society think of him as a hero; in the other he is caught, executed and forgotten. Perhaps both things are true. That day, during the obligatory “Two Minutes Hate,” he wondered who else might be harbouring thoughts of rebellion, and who may be working for the Thought Police. Winston starts the diary. He writes the year, so far as he knows it: 1984. This multi-award winning adaptation of George Orwell’s ultimate dystopian novel continues to resonate throughout the world.
