Arr ya ready for the Best Day Ever?! The sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea is hitting the Kudzu stage with Sandy, Patrick and the whole gang in the regional premiere of The SpongeBob Musical. We can’t wait to party with director Keith Salter and all the wacky characters of Bikini Bottom, July 15-24, 2022. Visit the show page for more details and watch for audition information coming soon!
Giving Tuesday
On this Giving Tuesday, please consider donating to Kudzu Playhouse. As we start to find our way out of the pandemic darkness and back to the footlights, your support is more crucial than ever. Remember, all donations are tax-deductible to our all-volunteer organization!
Ways to Support Kudzu:
- Donate to our general fund and support overall efforts and programming
- Donate to our microphone fund (yes, we’re still replacing microphones!)
- Donate to a Kudzu scholarship fund. We have three great offerings to support!
- Sponsor an upcoming show. Descendants is coming in March and we have exciting plans for our summer 2022 production that we can’t share yet, but you can email us if you want to get in on the fun!
- Amplify your holiday shopping. AmazonSmile is a simple way to support Kudzu Playhouse every time you shop, at no cost to you. Select Northwest Mississippi Theatre Guild (aka Kudzu Playhouse) as your charity of choice when you register at amazon.com.
A HUGE “Thank You!” to all our current and past sponsors and donors for their contributions. No matter how big or small, we are grateful for every single one of you. We could not do what we do without the support of our community!
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Let’s get rotten!
Who is ready to be rotten to the core?! We are excited to announce the first show of our 2022 theatrical season, Disney’s DESCENDANTS The Musical directed by Erica Peninger and choreographed by Brianna Szewczyk. Auditions are open to ages 8 and up, with great roles for all ages! We welcome parents and children to participate together! Visit the show page for more info!
Steel Magnolias: Theatre on the Square
Kudzu is proud to bring this classic Southern story to the community. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, and favorite beverage, and join us at Coffee Central’s side yard on Oct. 22 or the Hernando Courthouse lawn on Oct. 23 (6:30 p.m. each night) for an evening of fun and fellowship. Performances are open to the public and donations are appreciated. You can also help by sponsoring this production.
Moana JR postponed
COVID-19 strikes again. Out of an abundance of caution for our younger thespians and given the increasing likelihood that we may lose access to the HPAC this fall, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone our planned production of Moana JR, once again.
We do not have new dates yet, but are targeting late February/early March. We will keep everyone updated as soon as plans are finalized. If you registered for the audition workshop, your place is already secured for the workshop in the spring. We will let you know as soon as the new dates have been confirmed.
Tomorrow, we will be sharing more information about our fall STARS classes. We have greater flexibility to keep those going, so we look forward to continuing with our plans.
This is heartbreaking for us, to say the very least. We so desperately want to get back to “normal” and have complete, live performances with full casts. We remain confident that those days are still on the near horizon. Thank you for your continued patience and support of Kudzu Playhouse as we work through these very unusual times.
Please stay safe!
